Family Behavior Systems: A Whole-Family Approach to Positive Behavior Support
Family Behavior Systems: A Whole-Family Approach to Positive Behavior Support
All kids have tantrums, talk back, and break the rules. Sometimes these behaviors are severe and other times parents just want some extra help. When families seek out support, families are often given plans that address the behavioral needs of an individual child. These interventions can be highly effective. But families often find that everyone in the home can benefit from having shared tools and support. A family behavior system can help build teamwork, improve communication, and create more positive routines for parents, children, and siblings.
In this workshop, parents will learn simple, practical strategies for creating a family support system that works for the whole family. We’ll discuss how to better understand why behaviors happen, identify family goals, and develop motivating rewards and supports that encourage cooperation, responsibility, and positive interactions at home. Participants will leave with tools they can begin using right away.
After this workshop, parents will be able to:
Better understand why challenging behaviors happen
Create family-wide goals, rewards, and strategies that encourage positive behavior
Develop a customized family reward plan that fits their family’s unique needs and values
